New members are always welcome at Chapparells. After the final tryout dates for the sections however, new members must be able to perform all the routines or songs before they can march with that section for parades. New members are welcome to march in color guard, however, if they wish to be part of the parades before they are ready to march with their section. Tryouts are set for December 6, 2010. All member are also scored on a point system throughout the year in order to determine participation in Chapparells activities. If the new member joins later in the year but does not have enough points to participate, he or she cannot join us.
There is a $15 equipment fee upon joining Chapparells, to cover the cost of a new baton, and any mallets or drumsticks, as each new member needs a baton measured to their size, and mallets and drumsticks can wear out quickly. Other than this, being a member of Chapparells is completely free.
